I’m a huge of crafting homemade gifts for loved ones, crochet, knit, etc. especially. I’m not great at it, but I’m learning and improving all the time. So, I thought this might be a fun thing to share! I use YouTube videos to teach me a lot the things I try, so I’ll be linking those in, as well.
My first project to share is a blanket I’ve made for my niece’s birthday. The colors I’ve chosen were both because my mini-me is a traitor and was sorted into Hufflepuff, and it just so happens that colors for her school are black and gold, too!
Now, this project was SUPER easy, and it literally only took me about a day to make. It came out super soft and I absolutely love it! You can use it for a variety of things, I just chose to make a throw blanket. I got a bit overboard on the link, and it’s probably going to swallow the poor girl up haha, so you might keep an eye on that if you do a project. And, if you DO make something, I hope you’ll share photos with us!
For this blanket, I used:
- 5 skeins of the mustard color
- 3 skeins of the black (I actually wanted 6 gold, 2 black, but they were out!)
- size Q 17 – 15.75 mm crochet hook (She used a 10, and I suggest her size; I just think it looks better!)
- pair of scissors
- (optional) you can use a large yarn needle to tuck in the yarn tails, but the yarn I used was big enough that I just used my fingers with no issue at all.
Next up: the video! She does an AMAZING job showing and telling how to do this stitch pattern. She did it so well that even a newb like me caught on right away and had no problem at all. If you’d like to get into crocheting beyond making an infinitely long chain, the lovely lady in the video seems like a wonderful person to help us learn! After the video, there’ll be a photo of my finished product. Remember, if you make something, be sure to let us see!
And here’s my finished Blanket!
With Love and Yarn,
